Robert Stenmark departs Handelsbanken for new role at Northern Trust

Robert Stenmark has left Handelsbanken, a Swedish bank providing universal banking services, and has joined Northern Trust as head of depositary for Norway.

Based in Oslo, Stenmark is responsible for Northern Trust’s new Norway office.

Stenmark, who worked at Handelsbanken for six years, joined the firm in 2015 as depositary manager before going on to become securities settlement and corporate actions manager in 2016.

In 2017, he was appointed acting head of securities services Norway, and his most recent role was director, head of securities services Norway, based in Oslo.

Prior to Handelsbanken, Stenmark was a senior settlement consultant at SpareBank 1. He has also worked at Experian during his career.

Commenting on his departure from Handelsbanken, Stenmark says: “I want to thank all my previous colleagues at Handelsbanken for the great work we have accomplished together — it has been a pleasure working with you and I wish you all the best for the future. I also want to thank all the great clients we had during this time, that entrusted us with their assets, let us grow with them and also challenged us to perform better each and every day. I am very grateful for this fantastic experience.”

He adds: “I am thrilled to announce that I as of today have joined Northern Trust Corporation, where I will be managing their new Norwegian branch and overseeing the local depositary services. This marks a new chapter for me and I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues on this exciting mandate.”
